Dimensi baru

http://www.autoblog.com/media/2006/06/proton00002.jpgProton Holdings Bhd’s new Satria Neo hatchback was extensively engineered for better safety and handling capabilities, according to the national carmaker’s head of vehicle programme A. Rosle Yaakub.

“We subjected the Satria Neo to a number of tough regulatory and endurance tests to ensure its reliability and durability,” he said yesterday.

The car underwent collision and impact survivability tests to meet international safety standards set by Australia as well as European and Gulf countries.
In addition, the Satria Neo was built with a combination of ultra-high and high tensile strength steel, for better passenger safety.

Rosle said the stylish and affordable Satria Neo was Proton’s “most outstanding model to date.''

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi launched the Satria Neo last Friday.

Rosle: ''Satria Neo is Proton’s most outstanding model to date''
The Satria Neo, available in 1.3- and 1.6-litre Campro engines with a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual gearbox, replaces the original Satria model – one of the country’s best selling three-door hatchbacks – launched in 1994.

Proton has projected monthly sales of between 2,000 and 2,500 units for the Satria Neo, which costs between RM43,500 and RM54,800, and is primarily aimed at buyers in the 20 to 35 age group.

“For our 1.6-litre high-line variant, we have included safety features not available in this segment of vehicles, such as anti-lock braking system, two airbags and electronic brakeforce distribution,” said Rosle.

He said Proton engineers had collaborated with Lotus Engineering to improve the Satria Neo’s suspension system.

Plans are already under way for the Satria Neo to be exported in the third quarter of the year to countries employing the right hand-drive system, such as Britain, Australia, Indonesia and Thailand.

The left hand-drive version is expected to be out early next year.
